Cookbook Typography
2018

This was a project for an advanced digital typography class.

A tradition of the class is to create a collective cookbook of baked goods. Each student is assigned 4 pages to design using a recipe of their choosing and must use original photography or illustrations. As someone who enjoys baking, I was all for this project!

One of my all-time favorite recipes is for almond biscotti. I wanted to translate the classiness of the twice-baked Italian biscuit into the look and feel of the pages, so I drew my color scheme from the almonds and biscuits themselves. For the typefaces, I mixed a serif with a sans serif because although biscotti are a traditional Italian cookie, I feel like they’ve become a cookie that people are continuously putting their own spin on.
